A Poem for the Quiet Famous Ones

Hush…

Quiet now.

Do you hear the sweet sound of the dew forming on this blade of grass?

Still…

Settle in.

Can you hear the rain fall from the overfull cup of the leaf?

Belly to earth belly,

Ear to the prima materia of the stars.

Listen for the quiet famous ones.

                     The original superstars

Stardust turned star soil

Microcosmic creatures of the cosmos

                     bustling backstage day and night.

Ambitious ants and weathered worms

preparing the red carpet bed

                     of roses under the starlight.

Petaled stars born from star soil

Hibiscus and Amaryllis’s perfumed performances

                     cause quite an intergalactic buzz.

The clouds are moved to tears.

Star mothers and fathers glimmer from afar,

their faces aflush with scintillating love.

Hush now…

Silence for a moment.

Would you dare?
