I’ve been here before —
in this long-distance separation,
where our voices drop to a hush
Face-to-face communion becomes
a hasty phone call becomes
a how r u? text becomes
days-gone-by silence
Our hearts beat rhythmic
under the same moon; our
silent echo,
I love you
( ( ( I love you ) ) )
the wishful remains
I’ve been here before —
on this soft cushion of mourning,
where our shared dream unravels
A restless knock becomes
a window of insight becomes
the mirror of truth becomes
the foreseen exit
Our lips and lives part ways
at the crossroads; our
shattered echo,
I’m sorry
( ( ( I’m sorry ) ) )
the fragile remains
I’ve been here before —
in this valley of missing you,
where your smile beams a time stamp of us
Pointed fingers of blame become
open hands of understanding become
a hug of kindred love becomes
a laughter of release
Our bodies bask graceful
in a sea of compassion, our
peaceful echo,
thank you
( ( ( thank you ) ) )
the harmonious remains
