Solace
(April 7, 10 AM)

here today there is

the feel of fall

crisp apple chill

in the gray air

chickadees bemused

by lack of snow

robin sentry-straight

on shingles, orange

flash against the deep

green breath of April rain

iris, lilac, spice

viburnum bleary-eyed

awakening too soon

from winter’s sleep

seeking the solace

of summer sun
