Wrap a scarf of fringe and sequins around
your thinking mind. Movement does not originate
where it appears. One quick contraction traces
a vibration trail like steam whisp from a volcano.
Frame an internal isolation with your hands
and your eyes to draw the viewers’ gaze.
Make it look easy, layering lifts, drops, level
changes, undulations. Float your ribs above
figure eight hips, weight shifts, toes lift.
Lifted wrist or dipped elbow signals a turn
and the other dancers pause and pivot,
in the heat of stage lights. Strike your pose,
and then all fades to black.
